Build volume is the first filter

If your models routinely need more than 256 mm on an axis, the K2 Plus solves a problem the X1-Carbon cannot solve without splitting the model. If everything fits inside 256 mm, the larger frame becomes a footprint and mass tradeoff rather than an automatic advantage.

Engineering materials favor thermal control on paper

The K2 Plus has a 350 °C nozzle and a 60 °C actively heated chamber. The X1-Carbon has hardened-steel extrusion hardware and Bambu explicitly lists PA, PC and fiber-reinforced polymers as ideal. For a specific engineering polymer, compare the filament manufacturer's chamber, nozzle and bed recommendations with the complete printer configuration.

Multi-material ecosystems differ

CFS and AMS are not interchangeable accessories. They differ in spool handling, ecosystem integration and supported combinations. If multi-color printing is central, compare the total system rather than the bare printer price.

Space can decide this comparison

The K2 Plus is substantially larger and heavier. The X1-Carbon's 389 × 389 × 457 mm chassis and 14.13 kg net weight make it easier to place in a smaller workspace. Measure the actual installation area, including door/lid and filament-system clearance.
