Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo vs Bambu Lab P1S: Multicolor Bundle vs Mature Enclosed Platform
Compare Kobra S1 Combo and Bambu Lab P1S by build volume, enclosed CoreXY architecture, multi-material systems, drying, speed limits, materials and who each workflow fits.
| Constraint | Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo | Bambu Lab P1S |
|---|---|---|
| Build volume | 250 × 250 × 250 mm | 256 × 256 × 256 mm |
| Architecture | Enclosed CoreXY | Enclosed CoreXY |
| Max hotend | 320 °C | 300 °C |
| Max bed | 120 °C | 100 °C |
| Published max toolhead speed | 600 mm/s; Anycubic also lists 300 mm/s recommended | 500 mm/s |
| Multi-material path | ACE Pro; 4-color, expandable to 8-color | Optional AMS ecosystem |
| Integrated filament drying | ACE Pro active drying up to 55 °C | AMS is not a heated dryer; use appropriate external drying workflow when needed |
The 6 mm build-volume difference should not decide the purchase
Both printers are in the same practical 250 mm-class envelope. If a part barely fits one but not the other, rotate it in the slicer and check brim/support requirements before treating 256 mm as a meaningful capacity upgrade.
Kobra S1 Combo bundles multicolor and drying into the purchase
The Combo's main workflow advantage is ACE Pro: automatic filament switching plus active drying. That is valuable when multicolor jobs and moisture-sensitive filament management are part of normal use, but it adds purge waste, desk space and feeder-specific material limits.
P1S is the more mature single-printer ecosystem benchmark
Bambu's P1S remains an enclosed CoreXY with a broad installed ecosystem and optional AMS. Its current technical sheet lists 256 mm cubic build volume, 300 °C hotend, 100 °C bed and 500 mm/s maximum toolhead speed. The standard stainless nozzle means abrasive composites are not the first material use case without appropriate upgrades.
Printer compatibility and feeder compatibility are separate
Anycubic explicitly distinguishes filaments the printer can process from materials that should not run through ACE Pro. Bambu's AMS likewise has spool/material constraints. Check the feeder path for every specialty material instead of relying on the printer's hotend temperature alone.
Decision rule
- Kobra S1 Combo: choose it when integrated multi-color plus active drying is the reason you are buying.
- P1S: choose it when the mature Bambu ecosystem and a simpler enclosed printer baseline matter more than built-in drying.
- If you rarely print multicolor, compare printer-only system cost and do not pay for a feeder workflow you will not use.
