AMS vs CFS vs ACE Pro: Compare the Whole Multi-Material System
A practical framework for comparing Bambu AMS, Creality CFS and Anycubic ACE Pro beyond color count.
Automatic material systems change more than color. They add spool storage, feed paths, purge behavior, drying or humidity management, RFID features and material-specific restrictions.
AMS ecosystem
Bambu's X1-Carbon supports AMS, while the P2S Combo is positioned with AMS 2 Pro. Bambu highlights active drying and venting on AMS 2 Pro. Verify whether the exact filament you plan to use is supported by the feeder rather than only by the printer.
CFS ecosystem
Creality lists the K2 Plus as CFS compatible and supports multiple CFS extensions. RFID-tagged Creality filaments can expose material information to the system. More feeders can mean more colors, but also more footprint and more purge opportunities.
ACE Pro
Anycubic lists 4- or 8-color printing for the Kobra S1 Combo and active drying up to 55 °C. The official page explicitly notes that TPU 95A is not compatible with ACE Pro. That caveat illustrates why feeder compatibility deserves its own checklist.
What to compare before buying
- Filament diameter and spool-size limits
- Flexible-filament restrictions
- Drying temperature and whether drying can occur during printing
- Maximum number of feeder units
- Purge and waste strategy
- Available spare feed parts and PTFE routing
- Slicer support for color/material assignment
